Lidl (pronounced lee-dil), the German grocery touted to have the power to cripple Aldi’s, Trader Joe’s, and Whole Foods, has announced a list of stores it will open June 15th of this year and it looks as if our Plank Road store may not be on the list!
The chain is claiming their groceries will be 50% less. According to Lidl President and CEO of the company, Brendan Proctor as reported by MSN, Lidl will sell only high-end brands, quality and not quantity, best quality products.
Where it does not look like the Lidl at 5511 Plank Rd, Fredericksburg, is scheduled to open in the first wave of 20 stores, the Culpeper Lidl is on the list of initial openings scheduled for June 15th, according to SuperMarketNews.com. However, a search of Indeed.com, a job matching website, shows there are jobs available in the Fredericksburg market area in several areas of administration, warehouse, and other retail support areas so perhaps the Plank Road location opening is not far away.
The chain’s US headquarters are in Arlington, Virginia, and it’s building warehouses in Cecil County, Maryland; Mebane, North Carolina; and Fredericksburg, Virginia.
If anyone out there hears any news of an opening please let us at On Lake Time know so we can share the good news.
