For the very first Volunteer Spotlight, On Lake Time would like to honor and thank LOW resident Donna Merryman. Donna was recently presented the LOW Lions Distinguished Service Award for her dedication and selflessness as she works with the young people here at LOW and, in fact, with young people all over Orange County! Her commitment to the children and teens include working with The Lake Youth Foundation, an Orange County Youth Adviser and the LOW Lions “Leo” director for the middle and high school. And Donna’s volunteering doesn’t end there. While you often see her participating in fundraisers, LOW events, Lion’s club, and church activities, what most Lowians do not see are the individual Blessings Donna brings into people’s lives. These range from the giving of holiday baskets for the elderly, warm coats for children in Orange County as the weather turns cold and the individual heartfelt kindnesses she does for people, often strangers, each day. She is so busy enriching others lives that it was frankly difficult for On Lake Time to find a picture of her that didn’t show her involved in some community project or being surround by a group of people at an event. When does she find the time – no one knows. To top it off, Donna is a full-time Realtor and has a family that she adores. To quote Ben Franklin,“If you want something done, ask a busy person.” But in this case, let’s give Donna a break, just follow her example and let’s all pitch in and help her!
